The Day is Here!

It is 4:30 in the morning. I have been up since 2:19, no bad dreams, just thinking about today. The one thing that keeps going through my mind (no, not holy shit!) is that I can’t believe this is now my life. This is now what I do. I get up at 4:30 in the morning, put my hair back in a braid and don tri-gear.

I was an athlete in high school. Well, I played tennis; but, that still made me an athlete. I lost that part of myself for a very long time. I knew the athlete was in there somewhere, I just couldn’t find her. Well, she has emerged and apparently she has emerged as a triathlete. Actually, I don’t feel like I can really say “triathlete” until after today. But, today is here and in about 12 hours (I don’t get in the water for another four hours!) it will be official.

The Expo was yesterday. It was great to go and see vast array of people competing in the event today.  I got my stuff all set up for the second transition (bike to run) and saw where I am coming in from the bike and where I will leave for the run. I think the hardest part of today is coming in and going back out for that second loop. We literally pass the finish line on our way out for our second, but shorter, out and back.

Today is going to be the adventure of a lifetime. Last night Matt kept saying, “It is just another Saturday or you doing what you do”. However, I woke up this morning to a note attached to my gear…

 YOU ARE STRONG

YOU ARE READY

YOU ARE CALM

YOU ARE INTENSE

YOU ARE BALANCED

YOU ARE READY

YOU ARE STRONG

 He is right. I am.
